NIU’s Green Paws Environmental Alliance (also known as the Green PEAs) along with STAND (NIU’s anti-genocide group) will hosting a cell phone/battery/ink cartridge recycling drive at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at The House Cafe.
The event at 263 E. Lincoln Hwy. also will raise awareness for Raise Hope for Congo with a petition for NIU to go mineral-conflict free.
Featured performers thus far (all times are tentative):
- 7 p.m.: CPW Irish Rovers.
- 7:30 p.m.: Jake Mack.
- 7:45 p.m.: Scott Wesley Band — a credible pop sound off of influences such as the Beatles, Jack Johnson and Ben Harper.
- 8:20 p.m.: Green PEAs’ own Dave Anians doing a solo performance.
- 8:45 p.m.: Crowley and the Bear.
- 9:25 p.m.: An acoustic set by DOSE, a Grateful Dead tribute.
- 10 p.m.: Black Matt.
- 10: 22 p.m.: Spoken word artist extraordinaire Emanuel Vinson.
- 10: 45 p.m.: Illuminati — congo, roots, rock, hip-hop; reggae-, Latin- and African-influenced beats.
- 11:22 p.m.: DJ Visi, plus after-midnight set.
- Midnight: BBU — from juke to house to hip-hop.
