Faculty invited to workshops on methodology

Photo of research data on computer screenNIU’s Center for the Interdisciplinary Study of Language and Literacy is opening its methodology workshop registration to all NIU faculty.

Workshops are filling up fast, so faculty interested in learning innovative research methodologies should register as soon as possible. These workshops are designed to provide meaningful professional enrichment opportunities.

All workshops are offered free of charge. Space is limited to 15 seats per workshop. E-mail cisll@niu.edu to register.

The Basics of HLM
Monday, May 16, through Thursday, May 19
Instructor: Janet Holt

Join this workshop to learn how to conduct hierarchical linear modeling analyses of nested data using HLM and SPSS software. In this hands-on workshops, participants will practice data modeling with these software programs and learn to interpret output.

Categorical and Non-Parametric Data Analysis
Monday, May 23, through Thursday, May 26
Instructor: Tom Smith

This workshop will focus on applications of categorical and related analysis techniques. Topics will include non-parametric tests inference, logistic regression, log-linear models and other topics.

Qualitative Data Coding and Analysis Using NVivo
Tuesday, May 31, through Friday, June 3
Instructors: Laura Johnson and Emily Prieto

This workshop focuses on the fundamentals of using NVivo to code and organize textual data in multimedia forms.
