The NIU College of Education, in partnership with the NIU Alumni Association, will host “Transformational Leaders: Inspiring Change,” a moderated panel discussion featuring notable College of Education alumnae who hold significant leadership positions in their fields.
The Wednesday, March 23, event begins at 5 p.m. in the Barsema Alumni and Visitors Center.
Co-sponsored by the Women’s Resource Center and the Women’s Studies Program, the event will bring four inspiring women to campus in honor of Women’s History Month:
- Wanda Nelson, Ed.D. ’89, assistant vice president, Division of Diversity and Community Engagement, University of Texas system
- Shellie Y. Pfohl, M.S. ’90, executive director, President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition
- Beth Piper, M.S.Ed. ’84, director of curriculum, McDonald’s Corp.
The evening will begin with a reception from 5 to 6 p.m. featuring heavy hors d’oeuvres, followed by a panel discussion and question-and-answer session from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
