Huskie softball outfielder Dani Parrish named MAC West Player of the Week for Texas output

Northern Illinois University center fielder Dani Parrish was named Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week for her performance at the Texas Classic this past weekend.

Parrish, a native of Plainfield, Ind., was the offensive catalyst for the Huskies (0-5) in the Texas Classic in Austin, Texas over the weekend, going 6-for-18 with three RBIs and two runs scored. She started all five games of the tournament in center field, going 1-for-3 with a two-run double in a 3-2 loss to Tulsa in the season opener.

She followed that performance with a 3-for-4 effort against Louisville with two stolen bases and scored NIU’s lone run in a 6-1 defeat to the Cardinals. In an 8-4 loss to No. 15 Texas, Parrish went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored. She leads the teams in RBIs with three, hits with six and stolen bases with two.

The Huskies are back in action Feb. 25-27 when NIU returns to the Lone Star State for the Texas Tech Invitational II. Northern Illinois will open up against Wichita State at noon Friday, Feb. 25.
