Women’s tennis plan weekend indoor matches vs. in-state foes UIC, Bradley, Southern Illinois

NIU women's tennisThe Northern Illinois women’s tennis team (0-3) will play three dual meets against in-state competition this weekend.

The Huskies will head east to face Illinois-Chicago at noon Friday, Feb. 11, at Match Point Tennis Club in Griffith, Ind., before hosting Bradley at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, and Southern Illinois at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13. The Saturday and Sunday matches are being held at the Boylan Tennis Center in Rockford, Ill.

Last weekend, Haley Dekkinga and Kelly Phillips each notched their second wins of the season as NIU dropped a 5-2 decision on the road to Eastern Illinois.

UIC (2-2) is coming off a 6-1 loss to No. 74 Wisconsin. Linda Hricistova and Mariya Kovaleva lead the Flames with three wins apiece, and also own a 3-0 record together in doubles play.

Bradley (1-2) opened its season last weekend with three dual meets, dropping matches to St. Louis and SIU-Edwardsville, and edging out Southeast Missouri State for a 4-3 victory. Adele Henke and Meredith McDonagh each recorded a pair of wins on the weekend for the Braves.

Last time out, Southern Illinois (0-2) was blanked 4-0 on the road at Morehead State. The Salukis opened their season with a 6-0 loss on the road at Louisville.
