DeKalb mayor declares state of emergency

DECLARATION OF
STATE OF EMERGENCY

I, Kris Povlsen, Mayor of the City of DeKalb, County of DeKalb and State of Illinois, in accordance with Section 51.22 of the City of DeKalb Municipal Cole, do hereby designate and declare a state of local emergency in the City of DeKalb, DeKalb County, Illinois based on the following:

  • The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning consisting of significant snow accumulation and high winds over the course of the next 24 hours.
  • The need to maintain public services, so as to protect the health, safety and general welfare of the citizens of the City.

The State of Emergency shall go into effect at 5:00 p.m. CST on February 1, 2011. Based on this Declaration, there shall be parking prohibitions on all streets within the City of DeKalb until such time as the State of Emergency has been declared at an end.
