A taste of summer is coming to the Holmes Student Center this winter.
Representatives from more than 30 campus offices and from more than 60 student organizations will greet visitors with friendly smiles and valuable information.
For students new to NIU this semester, or students who are still settling in from the fall, the fair offers a condensed version of August’s Academic Convocation, Friday Fest and the rest of the Welcome Days activities.
Abbey E. Wolfman, associate director of Orientation & First-Year Experience, is ready for a good crowd. NIU expects more than 650 new students this spring.
“Everyone should come out of the cold and check it out. Walk in and walk around. It’s definitely helpful. For many, this is really their introduction to everything we offer, and some don’t realize how much is here for them,” Wolfman said.
But all NIU students are welcome, she added, “especially first-year students who already have a semester under their belts. Now is the time to get involved if they already haven’t. The fair also can answer those lingering campus questions they might have.”
As an added incentive, the fair promises free food to all and a few giveaways, including sweatshirts from TCF Bank and other cool and fun things from the Student Association and Campus Activities Board.
Event sponsors include the Division of Student Affairs & Enrollment Management, Orientation & First-Year Experience, the Residence Hall Association, the Student Association and TCF Bank.
