NIU to name new head football coach today

Photo of an NIU Huskie football helmet at Soldier FieldNorthern Illinois University’s new head football coach will be introduced today (Monday) at a press conference scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in the main concourse of the NIU Convocation Center.

The event is open to public.  The press conference can also be viewed live via a free online video stream  at www.niuhuskies.com.

Former head coach Jerry Kill stepped down at NIU to take over head coaching duties at the University of Minnesota early last week. Current NIU assistant coach Tom Matukewicz was named the Huskies’ interim head coach on Tuesday, December 7.

NIU football is currently preparing for a December 18 matchup with Fresno State in the uDrove Humanitarian Bowl in Boise, Idaho.
