The Community School of the Arts Children’s Choir performs its final concert of the season at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, in the Recital Hall of the NIU Music Building.

Directed by NIU School of Music faculty member Mary Lynn Doherty, this dynamic singing group of children between the ages of 8 and 13 rehearses each week.

Continuing its tradition of learning pieces from other countries, the choir performs an Indonesian folk song and a Latin American song. Also on the program are songs by Brahms and Doreen Rao. NIU Community School of the Arts student Jimmy Henry provides guitar accompaniment for one piece.

Placement auditions for the spring semester are Wednesday, Jan. 12, and Wednesday, Jan. 19, beginning at 4:30 p.m. both days. Call the office at (815) 753-1450 for a time assignment.

The CSA Children’s Choir is one of many ensembles offered by the NIU Community School of the Arts. For a complete list of upcoming programs and winter recitals, visit or call the office.
