Nominations due Dec. 10 for Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges

November 29, 2010

Student Involvement & Leadership Development is seeking nominations for Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges.

Nomination forms are available online and are due Friday, Dec. 10, to Suite 150 of the Campus Life Building. Late nominations will not be considered.

Those who are considering names to put forward should concentrate on those students whose academic standing, participation and leadership in extracurricular activities and community service are decidedly above average.

A campus selection committee will review all nominations and recommend approximately 150 students representing a variety of academic and extracurricular areas to the national program for this honor.

Students who previously have been named to Who’s Who cannot be nominated again.

Nominators should respond fully to all items on the nomination form. Although they can solicit information from the candidates to give the selection committee a more complete picture of the student’s qualifications, each form should be completed by the faculty or staff nominator.

NIU is among 2,300 institutions of higher education which annually nominate junior, senior and graduate level students for these awards, established in 1934 to honor outstanding college students for their scholastic, extracurricular and community achievements.

Students selected will receive personalized certificates, local and national publicity and inclusion in the 2010-2011 edition of “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges.”

Who’s Who recipients will further be recognized Sunday, May 1, during the Kevin D. Knight Leadership Awards Ceremony. Students named to Who’s Who also are eligible to apply for the H. Pettus Randall III scholarships in the amount of $5,000, $3,000 and $2,000 if they complete online forms between now and May 1.
