Traditional holiday carols and a flourish of selections from Africa highlight this year’s 13th annual Holiday Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5. The concert will be held in the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall in the Music Building.
Sold-out audiences in past years suggest that this event has become a holiday tradition for the DeKalb community.
Members of Chamber Choir, the School of Music’s premiere vocal ensemble, will present movements from Benjamin Britten’s classic “Ceremony of Carols.” They and Concert Choir and University Chorus will perform additional music by Bach, Sweelink, Rutter, Victoria and Chesnokov. The NIU choirs will be joined once again by the NIU Graduate Brass Ensemble and the Community School of the Arts Children’s Choir.
General admission tickets are on sale now and can be reserved by calling (815) 753-1551 or by e-mailing Lynn Slater at firstname.lastname@example.org. Tickets prices are $10 for adults, $7 for all students. Children 5 and younger are free.
The NIU Music Building, 300 Lucinda Ave., is accessible to all.
