Portions of the east campus of NIU experienced a power outage shortly before noon today, Tuesday, November 9, 2010, as a result of an explosion in an electrical vault beneath the Anderson Hall parking lot. The explosion damaged a nearby parked vehicle. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Power was restored in all buildings with the exception of Anderson Hall by noon today. Power was restored in Anderson Hall at approximately 1:30 p.m.
At this time, the cause of the power outage is under evaluation. All classes and activities remain on schedule.
