Rec Services to host 5K run/1-mile walk Oct. 16

Photo of feet in a raceRecreation Services will host a Homecoming Fun Run during the morning of Saturday, Oct. 16.

Students, faculty, staff, families and community members are invited to participate. Packet pick-up and check-in begins at 6:30 a.m.

The run will begin at 7:30 a.m. and the walk will start at 7:35 a.m. from Annie’s Woods, across from the Music Building at the intersection of Woodley Road and Lucinda Avenue. 

The walk and run route follows the parade route east of campus in the historic neighborhood. The run course continues up Lucinda Avenue, weaves through campus around the East Lagoon and ends on Kishwaukee Drive next to Anderson Hall.

Registration for the 5K run and 1-mile walk is online using a credit card; stop by the Student Recreation Center during open recreation hours to complete the registration form and pay by cash or check. The registration fee is $15 and includes a T-shirt and goody bag. Online registration will close at 11 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14. 

Individuals may register the day of the race at 6:30 a.m. at Annie’s Woods. The race day entry fee is $20.

Awards will follow at the completion of race. Everyone is encouraged to continue participating in Homecoming festivities with the Homecoming Parade which follows at 9 a.m.
