Students interested in Alternative Spring Break can learn more at two informational sessions

Alternative Spring BreakNIU’s Alternative Spring Break program is scheduled for the week of March 14 in 2011.

Three to four groups of students travel to different locations in the country and focus on community work pertaining to a specific social issue, including disaster relief, poverty, homelessness and more.

Informational sessions are scheduled at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept, 13, in Holmes Student Center Room 306 and 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, in the Stevenson Fishbowl.

Applications will be available, and locations and issues will be announced at the sessions. Alternative Spring Break also will have a table set up in Central Park for the Organizational Expo from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15.
