New one-hour Huskie football radio show debuts on Tuesday

Northern Illinois fans can now get the latest and most up-to-date information on the Huskie football team directly from Head Coach Jerry Kill as NIU and ISP Sports will debut the “Inside Huskie Football” Radio Show on Tuesday, August 31 from 7-8 p.m. 

The one-hour show will originate weekly from Fatty’s Pub & Grille (1312 West Lincoln Highway) and air on NIU’s flagship station, WLBK 1360 AM in DeKalb, and on NIU-ISP Radio Network affiliate ESPN 1380AM in Beloit, Wis. The “Voice of the Huskies” for the past 30 years, Northern Illinois Hall of Famer Bill Baker, will host the show which will include player interviews, special guests, and of course, an extensive question and answer session with Coach Kill.

 Fans will be able to send their questions for Coach Kill in to the website at www.NIUHuskies.com( http://www.niuhuskies.com/ ) – look for the Ask Coach Kill button on the front page and on the football page for the e-mail address – and Baker will choose several questions to “Ask Coach Kill” each week. 

Although the first show will take place on Tuesday due to the NIU season opener on Thursday, Sept. 2 at Iowa State, when the Huskies play on Saturday, home or away, Inside Huskie Football can be heard on Thursday nights from 7-8 p.m. Dates set for the show, which will run throughout the 2010 football season, are: 

August 31 (Tuesday)
Sept. 9, 16, 23, 30 (all Thursdays)
Oct. 7, 14, 21, 28 (all Thursdays)
Nov. 4, 11, 18 (all Thursdays) 

Fans living outside the Northern Illinois region will be able to hear “Inside Huskie Football” live on-line through Huskies All-Access. To get a subscription to Huskies’ All Access, go to www.NIUHuskies.com ( http://www.niuhuskies.com/) and click on the words “All Access” next to the video player. All Access subscribers pay just $6.95 per month or $49.95 per year to receive all NIU radio game broadcasts and can watch select football and all home men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball and men’s and women’s soccer games, as well as special features like weekly press conferences. 

In addition to “Inside Huskie Football,” fans in the Chicagoland area can get an update on all Huskie sports directly from NIU Associate Vice-President and Director of Athletics Jeff Compher and the Northern Illinois coaches weekly on “NIU Live.” NIU Live is a 30-minute show that airs each week on WSCR 670 AM “The Score.” 

At night, the CBS Radio-owned 50,000-watt station can be heard across 38 states and reaches an audience in the millions. Each week on “NIU Live,” Compher and host Andy Garcia discuss the week’s events, Kill joins the duo to give a Huskie football update, and special guests include coaches from each of Northern Illinois’ in-season sports. 

Due to WSCR’s commitment with the Chicago White Sox, the first five weeks of NIU Live will be carried on various weeknights and times. After baseball season, NIU Live will follow a more regular schedule. The first five shows are currently scheduled to air on the following days and times:
Wednesday, Sept. 1 – 10-10:30 p.m.
Thursday, Sept. 9 – 10:30-11 p.m.
Thursday, Sept. 16 – 12-12:30 a.m.
Wednesday, Sept. 22 – 10-10:30 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 1 – 12-12:30 a.m.
