The Huskies travel to Iowa City, Iowa, to take on the University of Iowa in a 7 p.m. contest at the inaugural Iowa Tournament. Competition at the tournament will continue Sunday, Aug. 29, when NIU faces Northern Iowa in an 11 a.m. match-up at the Iowa Soccer Complex.

“This will be an exciting weekend,” said NIU women’s soccer head coach Carrie Barker. “This is our first road trip, a Friday night game against a top program. We look forward to competing in the Iowa Tournament.”

The Huskies are 1-0-0 after opening their regular season schedule with a 1-0 victory over Creighton. In the contest, the Huskies outpaced their opponents in nearly every category. NIU outshot the Jays 12-6, while earning four shots on goal to their one, and held an 8-to-3 edge in cornerkicks.

Iowa dropped a 2-0 decision to DePaul in its season opener Friday, Aug. 20. This weekend’s contests are the first of three straight road games for the Huskies, who will continue action on the road when they travel Sunday, Sept. 5, to Loyola. NIU will not return home until Sept. 10, when the Huskies host Illinois State in a 2:30 p.m. match-up.
