Students get ready… MFA is coming in 7 days!

April 3, 2017

On Monday, April 10, NIU will be turning on Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for students in Office 365. This means you will use both your password and a code texted to your cell phone to login. To prepare for this roll out, you must use Office 2016 on your computers.

Install it free from O365.niu.edu. For help and more information view go.niu.edu/multifactor.

MFA is a method of providing multiple credentials to access a computer system in order to ensure proper identity management. You are likely familiar with MFA, as it is currently used in all financial system sites like those of
banks and credit card companies. MFA consists of at least two of the following methods for identity authorizations: Knowledge (something you know), Possession (something you have), and Uniqueness (something only you have).

There will be on-campus support locations with extended hours dedicated to support you with this transition. Please visit go.niu.edu/multifactor for locations and times.
