Alumni, staff and faculty help needed for NIU Cares Day

February 2, 2017

NIU Cares Day is celebrating its 11th anniversary and needs alumni, staff, faculty and graduate assistants to help make it the best NIU Cares Day to date! If you are looking to work alongside students who are doing great things for the community, then please consider volunteering for NIU Cares Day. Student Involvement & Leadership Development (SILD) is currently looking for individuals to serve as project site leaders (PSL) the day of the event.

PSLs are assigned to a handful of project sites and serve as a primary contact for teams assigned to those sites during the day of service. While PSLs primarily assist with communication between the student volunteers, the site supervisor and home base, it is possible that they may also be called upon to assist in the case of an unforeseen situation that requires intervention. The time commitment will be from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 22.

Serving as a PSL can be a great opportunity to connect with students outside the classroom as well as serve the community. An hour-long training is provided prior to the event and volunteers can choose a time that works best for them. Each volunteer receives a T-shirt and will need to provide his or her own transportation between assigned project sites. If you are interested in volunteering, please register online.

If you have any questions about this volunteer position or NIU Cares Day in general, contact Liz McKee at lmckee1@niu.edu or visit http://go.niu.edu/niucaresday for more information.
