Talk examines gender in the Trump campaign

On Wednesday, Feb. 1, the Center for the Study of Women, Gender and Sexuality will host the first WGST Brownbag Lunch Series talk of the spring, “Examining Gendered Rhetoric in Two Political Campaigns.”

Presidential Teaching Professor Kristen Myers, director of the Center for the Study of Women, Gender & Sexuality, and Associate Professor Kirk Miller, chair of the Department of Sociology, will argue that gender has been deployed in the Trump campaign in ways that mirror the use of gender and the content of rhetoric of a right-wing conservative party of Germany, the AFD, or Alternative for Deutschland. They will discuss preliminary findings from their content analysis of public materials as well as data from two interviews with two members of the AFD party in Kaiserslautern, Germany.

The talk will begin at noon in Reavis 103.
