A McKearn Fellowship is among NIU’s most prestigious honors. It provides an unparalleled educational experience, one that is truly world-class. It carries the name of two of the university’s distinguished alumni, John and Cassandra McKearn. McKearn Fellows are able to create a coursework and activity plan that feeds their intellectual curiosity, entrepreneurial spirit and supports their future career plans. The McKearn Fellows Program allows you to explore research and artistry; leadership; and civic, social and global engagement in one’s selected field of study. Furthermore, the McKearn Fellows program allows you to participate in professional and academic enrichment activities, receive funding to present and attend local, regional, national, and even international conferences within your field of study.

The McKearn Fellows Program is currently taking applications through Academic Works. Review of applications will begin on Monday, Jan. 23. If you would like to learn more about the McKearn Fellows Program, please join us on Thursday, Jan. 19, at 6 p.m. in Altgeld Hall 125 for our last informational session on how to apply.
