Internship opportunities include global travel and experience

mexico-homepage-portraitThe Global Internship and Leadership Development Program, sponsored by the Office of Student Engagement and Experiential Learning and the College of Business, provides up to 12 internships with Human Connections, a non-profit organization that brings together international travelers and local entrepreneurs across Latin America to share in cultural and personal exchange. Students will complete a three-week hands-on service internship with Human Connections on the vibrant seaside village of Bucerias, Mexico, followed by a 5-day leadership workshop at Entre’ Amigos, a community education center in San Pancho, Mexico. Internships will be offered in the following areas: education and outreach, business and innovation, marketing and research, and nonprofit management. In addition to gaining practical hands-on experience, students will enjoy beautiful hotel-style accommodations and take part in excursions over the course of the internship.

The Human Connections Global Internship and Leadership Development Program application deadline is Feb. 1, 2017

A second opportunity, new this year, is the Northern Illinois University Global Internship Program, which is hosted by the Department of NGO Leadership and Development, the Office of Student Engagement and Experiential Learning, University Honors and Omprakash. Students participating in this program intern directly with an organization through Omprakash, a global network of over 150 community organizations in 34 countries. Students will complete an 8-12 week internship at the site of their choice, engaging in an immersive international experience and developing human relationships with organization leaders and community members.

The Northern Illinois University Global Internship Program application deadline is Feb. 15, 2017.
