From paper to skin: tattoos in Burmese cultures

burnmese-tatOn Thursday, Nov. 3, Dr. Catherine Raymond, director of the Center for Burma Studies, will give a lecture on the importance and meaning of traditional Burmese tattoos. Learn about the significance of their placement on the body which purportedly empowers the tattooed with certain spiritual gifts. The lecture will take place in Altgeld Hall 315, from 5-6 p.m.
