Afri-Fest celebrates countries and cultures of Africa

africa-centerpieceAfri-Fest is a three-day event organized by the African Students Association to celebrate diverse cultures and countries in the continent of Africa. 

The first event, the Independence Day Gala, will take place at the Duke Ellington Ballroom and will be celebrating independence days for all African countries whose dates fall between July and December. Tickets are $6.00. 

The second event, Africa Gives Back, will take place on Friday, Oct. 28, and will consist of students handing out food to the NIU Community at the MLK Commons from 11a.m. – 2 p.m. The goal of this event is to feed to 400 people. 

The final event will be the Afri-Fest concert on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 8 p.m., at the Carl Sandburg Auditorium. The musical concert will showcase African music and student talents such as singing and dancing. Tickets for this event are $6.00.

Tickets are on sale at niutickets.com. General members who have paid their African Students Association dues can go onto the website niu.collegiatelink.net/organization/asaniu and RSVP to be on the guest lists.
