As a part of Hunger Action Month, NIU will host a fast-paced discussion on the issue of hunger and how it presents itself locally, regionally and globally.
Courtney Gallaher, a professor in the Department of Geography, will moderate the conversation.from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, in the Wirtz Hall auditorium (Room 101).
Panelists are Melissa Burlingame (Communiversity Gardens and the NIU Institute for the Study of Environment, Sustainability, and Energy), Dan Kenney (DeKalb County Community Gardens), Julie Yurko (Northern Illinois Food Bank) and Tom Duffey (Feed My Starving Children). The speakers will discuss startling facts about hunger locally and worldwide, and will give participants a sense of the scope of hunger need as well as the help available for our hungry people worldwide.
