The NIU Alumni Association announced it has awarded 10 merit scholarships to continuing students for the 2015-2016 academic year.
The following will receive $2,500 scholarships for the upcoming year:
- Anthony DeCarlo, Darien, Ill., majoring in mechanical engineering
- Trevor Enger, Batavia, Ill., majoring in accountancy
- Nicholas Gaston, Washington, Ill., majoring in accountancy
- Kiranjit Gill, Palatine, Ill., majoring in political science
- Eucario Matos, Maracaibo, Venezuela, majoring in mechanical engineering
- Megan O’Brien, Freeport, Ill., majoring in accountancy
- Jessica Sandlund, St. Charles, Ill., majoring in community leadership and civic engagement
- Matthew Schnizlein, Pecatonica, Ill., majoring in biological sciences
- Michael Wisnios, Crystal Lake, Ill., majoring in history
- Lauren Zuidema, Sterling, Ill., majoring in biochemistry
For more than 50 years, the NIU Alumni Association has provided financial assistance to thousands of students through the Alumni Merit Scholarships. The Alumni Association offers merit scholarships to continuing college students who are enrolled full-time at NIU for both the fall and spring semesters ($1,250 each semester). Each applicant is eligible to receive only one Alumni Association scholarship per academic year.
