Law symposium to explore cross-border migration of unaccompanied minors

Logo of the National Partnership for New AmericansNIU’s College of Law will host a faculty symposium from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 24, on “Cross-Border Migration of Unaccompanied Minors: Prospects for Legislative and Policy Reform.”

The event in Altgeld Hall, including lunch, is free and open to the public.

Registration is required and available online; 5.5 hours MCLE credit is available for attorneys.

Joshua Hoyt, executive director of the National Partnership for New Americans, is the featured speaker. The symposium also will feature three 90-minute panels.

Symposium topics will include the core reasons for migration across the border by unaccompanied minors, detention and representation issues and legislation and policy considerations.
