Alumni Association sponsors DC trip

Photo of the Washington MonumentNorthern Illinois University invites the public to explore national treasures, Amish country, historic battlefields and famous architecture on a trip Oct. 22-30 to Washington, D.C., and regions of Pennsylvania.

Visit the historic spot of the Battle of Gettysburg, the largest battle ever fought in America, and explore the Smithsonian Institution, the world’s largest museum and research complex, comprised of 19 museums and galleries and the National Zoological Park.

Other sights include Ford’s Theatre, Mount Vernon, the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial, the Capitol, the Washington Monument, Arlington National Cemetery, the Jefferson and Lincoln memorials, the Wolf Sanctuary of PA, the National Mall, Pennsylvania Dutch Country and Hershey’s Chocolate World.

“This trip is an exceptional value when you consider the extensive itinerary, which includes travel in the D.C., Gettysburg and Lancaster areas, along with guided touring and covered entrance fees to so many of the highlights,” said Pat Anderson, alumni relations director at NIU.
