The NIU Department of Police and Public Safety is pleased to announce the launch of the NIU Community Safety & Emergency Response educational program in an ongoing effort to improve safety on campus and in the greater DeKalb community. The program can be accessed free via the internet.
The user-friendly online learning system is available to all community members and provides relevant information on important safety topics. Each presentation is provided as an educational resource on what to do in case of a campus emergency.
The learning topics include:
- Emergency Planning
- Evacuation and Shelter in Place
- Weather Emergencies
- Fire and Hazardous Materials
- Response to Violent Encounters
The online safety learning system was a result of collaboration between police, public safety emergency management specialists and NIU eLearning Services. The program was funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education.
