The NIU College of Law will host the State of Illinois Appellate Court for the Second District when it convenes at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, to hear oral arguments in the Francis X. Riley Courtroom of Swen Parson Hall.
Oral arguments will be followed by an informal question-and-answer session. A reception will then be held in the Thurgood Marshall Gallery.
This event is free and open to the public.
Arguments to be heard include:
- People of the State of Illinois v. Frederick Hampton
(Aggravated Domestic Battery and Domestic Battery – Criminal Case) - IN RE THE MARRIAGE OF Catherine Shuff and Thomas Shuff
(Modification of Maintenance Agreement – Civil Case)
Note: Once arguments begin, the back door to the courtroom will be closed. Attendees will be allowed to enter and exit the courtroom only during the break between cases. Please observe proper courtroom decorum (no food, hats, etc.)
