NIU cancels classes, closes campuses Monday

Snow on the NIU campusDue to extreme weather conditions, Northern Illinois University’s main DeKalb campus and satellite locations will be closed Monday, February 2. Classes have been canceled at all NIU campuses.

Only personnel associated with essential services and operations will be required to report to work per established procedures.

Additionally, the Huskie Bus Line,  Huskie Safe Line shuttle and Huskie Student Patrol operations are being suspended. Huskie Bus Line service is operational from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday using the break service schedule.

During winter months, all students, faculty and staff are urged to use caution and personal judgment in their travels to and from campus and to dress appropriately for protection from cold temperatures and wind chills.

The NIU website will be updated as necessary to provide the latest information in the event of a change in the university’s operational status.
