Remember Project offers Dec. 18 opportunity to give back in Chicago

December 2, 2014

ONE VOICE logoThe Remember Project, a nonprofit organization that engages college students in building a better Chicago through service, will host a “One Voice” project from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18.

One Voice will unite between 100 and 125 college students from NIU to speak and provide positive inspiration to eighth-grade students at 10 Chicago Public Schools across the city.

Between eight and 12 NIU students are assigned to each school, where they will participate in interactive panels about overcoming life obstacles.

Volunteers are provided with transportation, breakfast, lunch and T-shirts. Volunteers should arrive at Altus Academy, 751 S. Sacramento Blvd., at 8 a.m. for registration.

To sign up, current NIU students must create accounts that will allow them to register for volunteer opportunities and track their service hours.

The system can take up to 24 hours to process those accounts. When accounts are verified, students then can log in to sign up for volunteer opportunities.
