At the intersection of math, cancer

Evans Afenya will speak to NSF PROMISE Scholars from 2 to 4 p.m. as part of their virtual seminar series in Room 100 of Campus Life Building.

Afenya, chair of the Mathematics Department at Elmhurst College, will discuss his research on mathematical models and cancer treatment. His research funding includes support from the National Science Foundation and Mathematical Association of America.

He has lectured on the topic of mathematical modeling for the Conference of Computational and Mathematical Population Dynamics in Bordeaux, France; the International Conference on Mathematical Models in Systems Biology in Tel Aviv, Israel; and the World Congress on Differential Equations and Applications in Marrakesh, Morocco.
