AM 560 The Answer (WIND-AM) is the new Chicago radio home of the Northern Illinois University Huskies.
NIU Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics Sean T. Frazier, AM 560 General Manager Jeff Reisman and Learfield Sports, the new multimedia rights holder for NIU Athletics, made the announcement today.
The new agreement provides NIU fans with one Chicago address (AM 560) for every Huskie home football game, while for the first time, fans across Chicagoland will be able to hear the one-hour NIU football coaches radio show every week throughout the season.
AM 560 The Answer will also carry 12 Huskie men’s basketball games and three NIU women’s basketball games to a coverage area that includes all of Chicagoland and reaches north into portions of Milwaukee. During the day, the signal can be heard across northwest Indiana and into southeast Wisconsin and northeast Illinois.
In addition to airing every football game, the football coaches’ shows and basketball contests, AM 560 will air 14 episodes of “NIU Weekly,” the 30-minute show which showcases the Huskies’ entire athletics program and is co-hosted by Frazier and NIU sideline reporter Andy Garcia.
“There’s no doubt this partnership with AM 560 is going to be great for NIU fans across the region,” Frazier said. “Huskie fans will have one place to turn for every football game and all of our radio shows. I’m excited about the basketball component. Putting more basketball games on the radio in Chicago was a priority in our search for a new radio partner.
“Throughout this process, there was a lot of interest in the Huskies on the radio side, and we want to thank everyone involved in getting to this point, especially Jeff and his team at AM 560. We’re excited to move forward with them in Chicago as we continue to build the network and build our brand across the region.”
Reisman said his station relishes the opportunity to be the “home of the Huskies” in Chicagoland.

Huskie Sports Properties, a property of Learfield Sports, manages the multimedia rights for Northern Illinois University Athletics.
