Campus Child Care installs new climbing equipment on playground

May 29, 2014

NIU Campus Child Care welcomed a new “Grounds for Play” climbing structure May 21.

The structure was purchased with funds awarded from the Illinois Quality Counts Grant and the DeKalb County Community Foundation Community Needs Grant.

Campus Child Care has been in operation for more than 30 years, with 15 of those years in their current building. The original construction of CCC did not include a separate outdoor play space for infants and toddlers, so over the years, through the help of grants like these, CCC has finally finished the outdoor environment for the youngest Huskies on campus.

This fall, Campus Child Care will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for this new structure as a new group of children and families are welcomed into the program, and to say thank you to the community for assisting CCC in maintaining the highest quality of care and education for children at NIU.

Campus Child Care is accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and has achieved a Gold Circle of Quality through ExceleRate Illinois.
