The Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra presents its spring concert, “Shostakovich and Steel,” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 3, in the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall of the NIU Music Building.
At its 37th season finale, the KSO will perform “Festive Overture in A Major, Op. 96,” and “Symphony No. 10 in E minor, Op. 93,” by Dmitri Shostakovich, and selections featuring the NIU Steel Band, including “Tico Tico,” “Pan in A Minor,” “Flight of the Bumblebee” and “Moto Perpetuo.”
Music Director Linc Smelser will present a free pre-concert lecture at 6:30 pm in Room 173. This performance is supported in part by the Ideal Industries Foundation with a generous gift from Jean Juday.
Tickets can be purchased at the door the night of the concert. All seats are general admission (no reserved seating). Individual ticket prices are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors 62 and older, $10 for students and $5 for children younger than 12.
