Money Smart Week is a public awareness campaign to promote financial literacy across all age groups. Launched in 2002 by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, the program is now active in more than 45 states through national partnerships with the American Library Association and the Financial Planning Association.

“This year is NIU’s third year participating in Money Smart Week. We are excited that, through our partnerships with the DeKalb County CA$H Coalition, we will have over 60 free events that NIU students, faculty and staff, as well as community members, can participate in,” said Randi Napientek, assistant director of NIU’s Office of Student Academic Success and coordinator of NIU’s Money Smart Week efforts.

“We have collaborated with many organizations across the county including businesses, financial institutions, schools, libraries, not-for-profits and government agencies to bring a comprehensive grouping of workshops, informational sessions and events.”
