Attention, grad students: Got research?

Sigma Xi logoNIU’s Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society will host the 11th annual Graduate Student Presentation Competition in April in coordination with the Graduate Student Research Association conference.

Judging takes place Saturday April 19, in the Holmes Student Center.

Awards – $150 for first place, $100 for second place and $50 for third place – will be presented Tuesday, April 22, during the annual Sigma Xi banquet.

Graduate students in all scientific and engineering disciplines are encouraged to participate.

Those who wish to compete must submit abstracts (250 words maximum) that detail their current research to Martin Kocanda (marko@niu.edu) or Veysel Demir (vdemir@niu.edu) by Tuesday, March 18. The final list of participants will be posted online.

Participants will be required to present their posters and address questions from the judges and audience. GSRA posters may be used for this competition; there is no need to prepare a separate poster.

Membership in Sigma Xi is not required, although discounted associate member rates are available.
