The Northern Illinois University Alumni Association invites alumni and friends for dinner and cocktails on Feb. 21 in Tampa.
The event will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on the American Victory Ship, located at 705 Channelside Drive.
One of only four fully operational World War II ships in the U.S., the steamship offers nine decks of discovery, including radio and gyro rooms, a hospital area, the captain’s quarters, crew cabins, a flying bridge, weaponry, steering stations and three levels of cargo holds. Rare artifacts, uniforms, medals, documents and photographs are exhibited to explain the history of the ship and its crew.
The cost is $35 for NIU Alumni Association members and $45 for nonmembers. Visit myniu.com to register.
