New Hall Network to help students succeed

DIP DODGE DUCK DIVE ... RELAX?Housing & Dining invites students to become part of the “New Hall Network.”

The New Hall Network is a series of events designed to help students succeed academically and to prepare them for career success as well.

All of the events focus on the different aspects and dimensions of being successful, starting in the classroom all the way through the job interview. The educational components are cleverly embedded while hosting some “traditional” shows and games with a twist.

Each event builds off of one another and they all culminate at the final event Thursday, Feb. 6.

Monday, Feb. 3: Dip, DODGE, Duck, Dive … Relax?

  • 6 p.m. Dodgeball, Chick Evans Field House
  • 7 p.m. Relaxation/Meditation, Chick Evans Field House

Looking for a fun and exciting way to work up a sweat, learn some academic facts, compete against your friends or learn to meditate? Beverages and prizes provided.

Tuesday, Feb. 4: Real Life … Nacho Average Alumni

  • 7 to 9 p.m. New Hall Dining Swing Space

NIU Honors alumna Melissa Burlingame has had a variety of experiences since she graduated from NIU. After spending a couple years trying out different career paths, she found her passion for environmental issues and inspiring others to make small, meaningful changes in their daily lives.

As the outreach and communications coordinator for the NIU Institute for the Study of the Environment, Sustainability & Energy, she coordinates the Green Lens Environmental Film Festival. She will give a special preview of one of the films and speak about how the film relates to the experiences of students at NIU. Food and giveaways provided.

What TO Wear! with Aaron & KarinaWednesday, Feb. 5: What TO Wear

  • 8 to 10 p.m. New Hall Dining Swing Space

Do you have an interview coming up and don’t know what to wear?

Tune in to What to Wear, where you can learn to be thrifty (with the help of Goodwill), fashionable and successful when getting your professional attire. Dessert and prizes provided.

Thursday, Feb. 6: Wing Feud

  • 7 to 9 p.m. New Hall Dining Swing Space

Survey says … come with your cluster mates and join our Wing Feud!

We have surveyed 100 New Hall residents, so come see how you compare and enjoy some delicious wings with your fellow wing mates. Each wing will compete against one another to see who takes home the prizes. Food and prizes provided? Good answer!
