NIU President Doug Baker

I hope each and every member of the NIU community enjoyed a holiday season full of joy and great memories. I want to thank the many who maintained essential university operations over the break and during our recent cold snap. I am proud of the ‘can-do’ Huskie spirit of all those who keep NIU running strong.

The start of each new year is time of great hope as we celebrate the end of one year and the beginning of another. The 2013 calendar year was one of great accomplishment for NIU, its faculty, students and alumni, and the university is already receiving accolades in 2014.

The 2014 calendar year promises to be exceptional as the university community works together to achieve our goals to further student career success in support of our mission. This year will not be without challenges; change is never easy. However, by building on the momentum of 2013’s successes and actively working to shape our own future as the region’s premier student-centered public research university, we can and will accomplish great things.

Thank you for being a part of this great university. I anticipate many more bold futures in the years to come, and I am looking forward to celebrating the many achievements of students, faculty, staff and alumni when the semester comes to a close.

Forward Together,
