Northern Illinois University quarterback Jordan Lynch earned a his sixth Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week honor following his outstanding performance in a 48-27 win over Ball State, the league announced Monday.

It is Lynch’s sixth MAC West Offensive Player of the Week honor this year, setting the school record for league player of the week awards in a season.

In addition to earning MAC POTW honors for the 10th time in his Huskie career, Lynch was named to the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll and a Manning Award Star of the Week. Fans can vote for Lynch as the Manning Award’s top performer of the week at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Facebook page.

Lynch, a native of Chicago, accounted for 468 yards of total offense against the Cardinals, rushing for 123 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries and passing for a season-high 345 yards. The Mt. Carmel product completed a career-high 26 passes on 32 attempts for a career-high 81.3 completion percentage.

The 26 completions ranked tied for seventh on NIU’s all-time list and two of those went for touchdown passes of 58 and 36 yards to Da’Ron Brown, the latter with 5:49 left to play was the game-winner. Lynch added an insurance touchdown on a 16-yard run with 1:26 left in the game to give NIU a 41-27 lead.

He grabbed the honor again after racking up 424 yards of total offense against Eastern Illinois and after throwing for 207 yards and three touchdowns as he led NIU to its second Big Ten road win of the season with a 55-24 win at Purdue.

The Huskie senior signal caller picked up his fourth MAC POTW accolade after setting the NCAA and NIU record for rushing yards by quarterback with 316 at Central Michigan. He also added three rushing TDs versus the Chippewas. Lynch garnered his fifth weekly conference honor after rushing for a career-high four touchdowns and 119 yards and passing for 160 yards at UMass.

NIU returns to action Wednesday when they travel to Toledo to face the Rockets. NIU returns home for the final game of the regular season Tuesday, Nov. 26, when the Huskies welcome Western Michigan to Huskie Stadium for Senior Night.
