All are welcome.

This is an opportunity for the NIU community to come together and encourage male students with healthy choices, information and education related to their overall health and wellness.

“Many male students visited our women’s health program last spring and asked if we would work with some male student groups to bring more awareness about health concerns specifically for them, said Carrie Williams, assistant director of the center. “As we strive to encourage our students through student-centered services, programs and opportunities beyond the classroom, the Male Health Symposium was developed.”

The symposium will have several components comprised of information sharing and educational tips; an interactive activity from the WOMS 230 Action Research Project; and a question-and-answer session between 1 and 2 p.m. from our featuring Dr. Brian LaMere, chief of medical staff at NIU Health Services.

Departments and student organizations that will be available to share information include:

  • Counseling & Student Development Center
  • Health Enhancement
  • Health Services
  • Black Male Initiative
  • Liberated Minds Organization
  • Transitions of the LGBT Resource Center
  • WOMS 230 Action Research Project
