Panhellenic to present NIU Dance Marathon

November 1, 2013

National Panhellenic Conference logoThis year, NIU will participate in its first Dance Marathon from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Campus Recreation Center.

A philanthropic event that benefits the Children’s Miracle Network, all donations will support the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.

During the dance marathon, participants strut their stuff for eight hours straight in honor of the children. Dancers remain on their feet for the full eight hours in celebration of the total amount of funds raised. Along with the participants, families from Lurie Children’s Hospital will also participate.

To keep morale high, live dance groups and DJs will perform throughout the event. Other activities include Lurie families who will share their stories.

NIU’s Panhellenic Council is running the event in DeKalb with the assistance of other student organizations including the Public Relations Student Society of America, the School of Theatre and Dance, the Greek community and other student organizations.

The entire event is completely run by students, and 100 percent of the proceeds will directly benefit Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital.
