Dr. Kenneth Chessick
Each year, the NIU chapter of Mortar Board hosts a Last Lecture series based on the popular novel by Randy Pausch: An NIU faculty member or alumnus is formally invited to speak on a topic of his or her choice.
This semester, Mortar Board welcomes Dr. Kenneth C. Chessick to present his figurative “last lecture.”
Chessick will speak on “How an Ordinary Guy Can Do Extraordinary Things” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, in the Barsema Hall Auditorium.
Doors open at 6:45 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. No reservations are required.
Chessick is a trial lawyer, a physician and board certified general surgeon, an entrepreneur and CEO of an internet marketing company, a philanthropic supporter of NIU, a husband and a father.
The Law Office of Kenneth Chessick, M.D., represents victims of medical negligence, and is of counsel to the Clifford Law Offices, P.C. Dr. Chessick earned his Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from the NIU College of Law in 1984.
Dr. Chessick and his wife, Ellen, devote their philanthropic leadership, time and treasure to Northern Illinois University, which has included the Kenneth C. Chessick Legal Skills Training Center at the College of Law, the Kenneth C. Chessick Civil Justice Endowed Scholarship Program and the Kenneth and Ellen Chessick Practice Center, a gift to Northern Illinois Athletics.
He also contributes as a member of the NIU Foundation Board of Directors.
Chessick was awarded Distinguished Alumnus of the Year by Northern Illinois University in 2001 and NIU College of Law Alumnus of the Year in 2012. He also is a creator, CEO and chairman of the board of directors of Restaurant.com, an Internet marketing company with 350 employees and 1,000 independent associates. Restaurant.com unites more than 23,000 restaurants and businesses providing great meals at special prices in all 50 states.
