Law alumna Angelakos to state counsel post

AngelakosNorthern Illinois University College of Law alumna Julie Angelakos has joined Addison-based Stewart Legal Services team as State Counsel for Illinois.

With 12 years of experience in real estate and title, Angelakos brings particular expertise in risk management and an understanding of real estate, banking and probate issues to her role.

Throughout her career, Angelakos has applied her knowledge to mentoring and training new employees and customers, as well as to speaking engagements on title and real estate.

“We are pleased to have Julie as a part of the Stewart family,” says Marsha Laner, senior vice president, senior underwriting counsel. “Her capabilities in risk analysis, relationship development and mentoring will be truly valuable to our team and customers.”

Angelakos began her law career as a clerk for the DuPage County State’s Attorney, researching cases and writing various court documents; she was later a clerk for The Options Clearing Companies, researching securities law, drafting contracts and amendments, monitoring the Federal Register, and more. She joined Chicago Title as a title examiner in 2001, subsequently serving as an assistant title officer before being promoted to attorney title officer in 2005.

In 2012, Angelakos was additionally designated assistant vice president and office counsel, serving as the team lead for four underwriters/examiners.
