August 12, 2013

Logo of the DeKalb Festival ChorusDo you love to sing and are you looking for a creative diversion? The DeKalb Festival Chorus, conducted by Seth Houston, is looking for new voices.

Two exciting concert programs are planned for the upcoming year.

The fall concert, “This Shining Night” takes us on a journey from the darkness of the fading year to the promise of renewal. Centering on Ola Gjielo’s dynamic “Dark Night of the Soul,” with piano and string quartet, the concert also features gorgeous music by Brahms, Copland and Lauridsen.

The spring concert will feature Vaughan Williams’ magnificent 20th century masterpiece, “Dona Nobis Pacem,” with texts by Walt Whitman and others.

Rehearsals begin at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, in Room 171 of the NIU Music Building. Cookies will be served beforehand; come early to see friends, meet new people and to register.

New singers are requested to have an informal audition. Houston will hold auditions (no preparation required) from 2 to 5:30 p.m. that day, and also after rehearsal until 10 p.m

For more information or to set up an audition time, call (303) 815-0648 or email seth@sethhouston.com.
