Approximately 1,000 operating staff employees will enjoy lunch on the council, which will give away around 185 door prizes.

The event also will feature a 50/50 raffle that support the Operating Staff Dependent Scholarship program; the American Red Cross is the beneficiary this year of the “Giving Back” campaign.

NIU Board of Trustees Chair John Butler, DeKalb Mayor John Rey and Illinois State Rep. Bob Pritchard will help to welcome operating staff members and thank them for their work at NIU and in the community.

“The Operating Staff Council is truly grateful to the NIU administration for their support that allows us to continue this great tradition of our staff appreciation day – StaffFest,” said Andy Small, president of the council.

“The operating staff is the backbone and the muscle that supports this massive university system, and it is altogether fitting that we take this day to recognize their efforts as we work to move NIU forward, together forward.”
