Sherrill Morris is the new chair of the School of Allied Health and Communicative Disorders (AHCD) in the NIU College of Health and Human Sciences.

AHCD prepares undergraduate and graduate students in rehabilitation services, counseling, speech-language pathology, medical laboratory sciences, audiology and physical therapy.

Morris, who embraces the college’s vision to be nationally recognized for its quality and impact, said she looks forward to collaborating with faculty, staff and students in achieving the mission of promoting health and well-being through scholarship that integrates teaching, research and service.

She holds a Ph.D. in speech-language pathology from the University of Kansas. Her research interests include assessment of toddler speech variances and speech-language treatment efficacy.

The new chair came to NIU in 2003, was tenured in 2009 and served as the area coordinator for speech-language pathology from 2010 to 2012. In 2012-2013, she served as the acting associate vice provost for Academic Outcomes Assessment.

“We are thrilled that Dr. Morris is returning to a leadership role in the College of Health and Human Sciences,” Dean Derryl Block said.
