NIU’s Information Technology Services reports that landline telephone services have been restored to the university’s DeKalb campus.
Telephone services had been knocked out Wednesday by a lightning strike. ITS today is continuing testing to verify telephone-service capabilities and connectivity.
ITS reports that voicemail is working but in a “degraded capacity.” This will be fixed this evening with new hardware.
Because of the nature of the outage, there could still be isolated service issues. Faculty, staff or students who encounter service problems can contact the HelpDesk at (815) 753-8100.
