Sorry, ladies, this one’s for the guys.

In four years, Northern Illinois Athletics’ annual Football 101 Ladies Clinic has become a huge hit with the Huskie fan base.

In fact, the “exclusive” nature of the ladies clinic inspired a bit of jealousy from their husbands, sons and men throughout the community who asked: Where was their night, their chance to hobnob with the Huskie players and get insider information from NIU coaches?

Well, here it is.

From 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 12, Northern Illinois will host the first “X’s and O’s with the Pros” men’s football clinic in the Jeffrey and Kimberly Yordon Center.

Along with NIU Head Football Coach Rod Carey and the Huskie football coaching staff, the event will feature a line-up of Huskie greats, all of whom bring experience as current or former National Football League players.

Three members of the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts – Super Bowl winning offensive tackle and 10-year NFL player Ryan Diem, and current Colts Nathan Palmer and Chandler Harnish – along with former Chicago Bears running back Garrett Wolfe and current Atlanta Falcons linebacker Pat Schiller will be on hand for this unique evening.

The pros will visit with participants during the social portion of the program, then participate in a Q&A session during the “break out” sessions which also will have attendees moving through different position meeting rooms of the Yordon Center where NIU coaches will break down film, providing a true “insiders’ look” into college football.

Cost for the “X’s and O’s with the Pros” clinic is $125 and includes a social hour with beverages and snacks, the break-out sessions, a tour of the Yordon Center and a free Huskieland season ticket plan for 2013.

The Huskieland plan provides a ticket to all five Northern Illinois home games next season and $50 in “Doggie Dollars” which can be used for parking or concessions at Huskie Stadium.

To give every participant the best experience and one-on-one interaction, space for this inaugural event is limited. Register now by calling the Huskie Athletic Support Fund at (815) 753-1923 or email huskieathleticsupportfund@niu.edu for more information.

Don’t worry, ladies: the NIU Football 101 Ladies Clinic will be back for the fifth consecutive year from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, in the Yordon Center. NIUHuskies.com as well as the NIU Huskies Facebook page will have complete information closer to that date.

NIU football opens 2013 spring practices Wednesday, March 20. The spring game begins at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Huskie Stadium. Admission is free.
